At the end of last season...I was working on the boat in the driveway(on something unrelated)....and saw smoke coming from inside the boat. Power trim wiring harness shorted out somehow and the wires got so hot that the insulation was burned off the wires. Had to scrambled to get the battery disconnected.

I have no idea WHAT caused the short....but the harness was in crap condition when I bought the Power Trim unit, so it's not a huge surprise that it failed.

Was going to buy a cmc harness...but I refuse to pay $140 for some wires and a couple relays. I'm going to make my own.

These are the current relays that were on the harness.

Do I need to buy theses specify relays....or can I buy automotive relays locally? I have no idea if these are original or if they are generic relays that the PO used.

Any advice/suggestions are appreciated.

I would do a little research to see what the specs are on each relay. Try to match up to them as best as possible.

Research the CMC to see max amps what ever you use make sure it is up to par.

Making a new harness shouldn't be that hard.
