I just got this unit from my brother-in-law,as he does not use it anymore. Question can I use it in a marine environmet..??

have you got any documentation on the receiver? Many GPS receievers will conform to international standards which will state how long the unit will remain submerged for at a certain depth. This should be in the specifications section of the owners manual. <br /><br />Like anything, it will depend on how extreme the conditions are you are using it in. It should be ok for recreational use, however id try to make up a soft plastic cover or bag for it if you it is going to be exposed. If you plan to mount in on the dash of your runabout you'd probably be ok - just be careful and sensible (like wiping it down with a clean cloth etc). If you are using it everyday where it is exposed to salt water spray though (and if it isnt rated for submersion), id look at trading it in on one that is.<br /><br />Hope that helps. cheers Troy
