Hello All,

New here but am looking to secure a $200-$300 fish finder. Been reading a lot about the benefits of color......but for the same price I can get an HD version in b/w with a larger screen. Specifically, I'm looking at the HB 571 HD DI and the HB 346c DI (smaller screen, but in color).

Thanks for any insight.

Depends on the difference in price, personally I like my 640 line gray scale alot better than any color one in its price range at the time. Mines a 3-4 year old hummingbird 580 GPS combo that was 350$ at the time. Some will try to convince you that "black and white" is hard to read in bright sunlight and that color isn't, don't believe them. That said I'm looking at upgrading to a wide screen 900 series SI combo for next year, don't tell the wife.

In that price range, there is no real advantage of going color over B&W.

I'd go for the larger screen over color.
