I'm looking for a fish finder/GPS combo unit and I found this one on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Humminbird-38...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1245360105&sr=8-1

Looks pretty good except.. it has a 4 nautical mile resolution map..To me that means inside of a 4 mile area there's going to be no detail what-so-ever. Is this correct? Sounds pretty crappy. The maps in my street GPS seem to be good down to meters.

Is this thing going to be any good on smaller lakes that are far less than 4 miles wide?

Re: 4 nautical mile resolution?!

I have a feeling that what they really meant that at a 256 pixel width and map resolution of 30 meters/pixel that turns out to be 4 miles across the screen. At least that is how my math works out.

No matter what Amazon was trying to say, you should have 30 meters/pixlel resolution.

30 meters/pixel comes from the Humminbird website.

Ok, that make sense and is much more reasonable. Thanks
