Engine trim switch

Yesterday, I cleaned my boat the same as every other time, I think. I washed and rinsed the inside of the boat using a garden hose/hand nozzle to rinse. About 15 min later the engine trim ran on its own and raised the drive. When I heard it, I jumped in the boat and thumbed the switch. It stopped. About 15 minutes later it did the same thing. This went on for about an hour. I did not spray the controls hard that I remember. I did not rinse out the engine bay. The plug was out and bilge was draining fine (I checked).

My question is... Could I have gotten water in the switch completing the electrical connection? Or, could it be something else?
