So I am upgrading trolling motors.. Need to go from a 12 to a 24 system... I know I need two batteries, but that is the extent of my knowledge lol.

Can someone explain how I bridge them?

How do I charge them if I am using a portable charger?

Anything else I should know?

Thank you guys...

This is not at all what he's asking. He does not need a battery switch and chances are the engine does not have enough output to charge the troller batteries anyway.

Try this one. It's simple, bullet proof and inexpensive. Add a two output on board charger for the best setup, or use a single charger but you will need to charge one battery then move the charger to the other. You can use the same two terminal connector you have now. Depending on the length of the run from the batteries to the troller, you would use either 8 or 6 AWG wire for all connections.

If you use the on-board charger, the system looks like this.

Also, are you going to go with a strictly 24v or a 12/24v system which many trolling motors come with? This will matter.
