Hi guys, Can anyone please tell me if a 28lb thrust bow mounted trolling motor would work on a 14' Starcraft aluminum rowboat? I am looking at a used one for some control up front. I have a 55lb transom mount and a Evinrude 9.9 for "big water" lol

It should be fine , but , may be a bit anemic if the wind is up .
I would look for at least 35Lbs of thrust , depending on variables .

I have a 40Lb MK on my 12' Vee , overkill , but , comes in handy in high winds and strong currents . :D

I would go for 45# not because the 28# would not propel your boat, but because you aluminum 14 footer lays high in the water and is very wind sensitive. You need the extra thrust to counter act the wind.

The 21 foot boat in my signature has a 36# thrust bow mounted motor and it works just fine. I have an almost new 55# thrust motor in my shed that I had planned to use, but I just don't need it. I have been out in some pretty good winds and it moves the boat with no problem.

Yeah, I put a 36# bow troller on my 14' Lowe Big Jon and it works really well. It has 5 speeds but for trolling I don't need the top 2.
