Changing to this forum since what I thought was a gas problem is an electrical problem. I have no spark at the plugs or to the distributor. If I pull the connector off the coil and measure the purple wire that should tell me if I have power going to the coil? Key in the on position or cranking? It’s a merc 3.0 on a 1998 regal 176.

you should have power on the purple wire with the key on and while cranking.

Ok so I was by myself and don’t have leads long enough to put the key in the start position but when the key is in the on position there is no voltage to the purple wire. Where should I go next? The choke (which also has the purple wire seems to be working properly

Also since the purple wire goes to the choke and that is working can I just jumped them together to see if it’s just a broken wire in the harness?
