  • Kill Switch

Hi, I've got a Force 120 with Merc controls and it always fired up then it wouldn't turn over even with a full battery and charger with start mode. I think it's the contact in the switch. Is there anything else I should look at or test? It's had a lot of use, it's a 1995 system, Thank You, Dave

Usually the safety lanyard switch does not affect the ability to crank over the engine.

Failure to even attempt to crank over the engine is usually due to a circuit discontinuity in the primary battery-to-engine wiring, or in the low-current ignition switch wiring. For suggestions of about 50 places to look for a circuit discontinuity, see

Since the engine cranking circuit is powered by a battery, the first component to check is the battery itself.
