relay problem

does any one know what the relay by the big plug on a volvo penta controls. hella 4RD 960388-31 its on a 1998 4.3 volvo penta

If its acarb motor like a GL then its the start assist relay. When the key is turned to start, the relay makes contact and sends power to the starter solenoid
