The new bezel was slightly smaller in that you could see an outline of dirt/sealant from the old one, just needed a bit of elbow grease to clean off the old junk. The screw mounting holes, as I eluded to above, were a bit off in that they were just a bit narrower.....you'll need to dril (mounting holes)l. All in all?, it covers up and mounts well enough, it'll look stock. My old ones were on the vertical side of a step down, so i needed/required the low profile like the old ones, these worked perfect!
And yes, the wires/housing assembly went in and sat on top of the old fixture's center hole..........These are LED so there isn't that bulb holder fixure that needs/requires the large center hole, they are more or less flush mount.
