Purple “Engine” wire

Under my dash is a purple wire marked “Engine “.

One end of the wire goes up into a rats nest of wires which I don’t want to pull to hard on. (20 year old boat and wiring) The other end of the wire goes through a small black type connector and has a butt Connector which is NOT attached to the buss bar.

There are NO open connection spots on the Connector Block.

I have not found anything that is NOT working.

Question: Does anyone have an idea what this wire is used for?

Ayuh,..... Purple is Ignition,...... if it starts, 'n runs, I'm guessin' it obsolete,....
