Blows main fuse??

Main fuse blows when neg.battery lead is connected? Mercury 75hp 2 stroke 2004

G'day,
welcome etc
is this a new problem or a new motor to you?

Have you taken wires of the starter solenoid?
possibly not put them back on the correct terminal?
you need a wiring diagram if that is the case

also check that they are not rubbing on the block etc and shorting out somewhere,

Welcome aboard.

The battery leads aren't crossed, are they. Wouldn't be the first time and it blows the fuse.

vtx03 if that doesnt fix then disconnect rectifier and check hope this helps:joyous:

reversed battery cable will do this. With just the so called neg cable connected use a 16 or 14 Ga jumper from the positive side and remove the cable from the solenoid and touch the battery cable at the solenoid. There should be no spark.
