I am in the process of buying a Kohler 6.5 kW single phase 400 amperes gasoline generator for my boat. I am buying one from the US as I am located in Thailand. The Kohler generator is 120 volts. I am not sure if my old generator was 120 volts or 230 volts. I cannot know this because it is no longer in the boat, but it was a Quicksilver 7.5 kW imported from the US. If my boat was designed for a 230 volt generator, then I would obviously run into a problem installing a 120 volt generator? I know this is a very basic issue, but as I am not knowledgeable about wiring and electricity in boats, I felt it was right to ask the question here, if anyone can give me any pointers. Thank you.
