Voltage of electric generator

I am in the process of buying a Kohler 6.5 kW single phase 400 amperes gasoline generator for my boat. I am buying one from the US as I am located in Thailand. The Kohler generator is 120 volts. I am not sure if my old generator was 120 volts or 230 volts. I cannot know this because it is no longer in the boat, but it was a Quicksilver 7.5 kW imported from the US. If my boat was designed for a 230 volt generator, then I would obviously run into a problem installing a 120 volt generator? I know this is a very basic issue, but as I am not knowledgeable about wiring and electricity in boats, I felt it was right to ask the question here, if anyone can give me any pointers. Thank you.

what does your switch gear state its rated for? did your old wiring have 4 wires (L1, L2, Neutral, Ground) or 3 wires (L1, Neutral ground)?

also, there is no way you get 400 amps from a 6.5kw genny. 6.5kw at 120 volts, that is about 65 amps at a .8 power factor

Thailand is a 230 VAC 50Hz standard

How did you handle the frequency issue?
