replacing gauges

I have a 1987 four wins 195 sundowner. I would like to upgrade the gauges and I have a question about wiring. When I removed the dash panel there was a light strip mounted below the gauges to light them when the lights are on. My question is how do I wire new gauges that have built in lights?

Have to daisy chain each gauge with other gauges

Normally a black wire daisy chains the grounds
a purple wire daisy chains the power
lights are daisy chained with a dark blue wire for power and sometimes a separate ground

It if is one light (sounds like it is) then yes
