Hello. I have a 350 mag mpi with ecm555 and smartcraft sc1000 speedo/tacho.For speed reading I normally use the paddle wheel for speeds below 5mph and pitot sensor for speeds higher than 5mph. My question is if I can connect a simple gps receiver like this one: https://m.ebay.com/itm/Free-High-qu...enna-UART-output-NMEA0183-protoc/292698000649 , to use it for speed reading. It has nmea 0183 output and according to sc1000 manual if nmea 0183 leads coming from a gps will be connected to the systems leads, this could be used for accurate speak reading. Has anybody tried to connect a simple gps receiver to smarcraft sc1000?

I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.

GPS sensor is suspect. Supposedly rated to IP6 but the connector shown in the picture is not

The cost is really low so I think it worths to try. I could put it in a water proof small box. All I concern if it will be compatible to sc1000....

My only concern is do you have the tool(s) to program / configure the GPS module.

What configuration is needed?? The only matter that I will ask the seller is to set the baud rate to 4800 as smartcraft need...is there anything else I must consider?
