Turning on Lights Progressively and Substantially Weakens other Lights

Hello,

I have a 2001 San Pan by Godfrey and I'm experiencing extremely weak power when turning on multiple lights. This isn't just a minor dim in the lights. It's substantial enough that some lights become barely lit, and so much is drained that if the radio is on it will start to turn on and off as I believe there's not enough juice to run it. This was a boat I bought used so there was some electrical work done on it (custom amp and speakers were added), but the boat has a switch for 2 brand new 12-volt batteries that can be used at the same time, yet this still happens. Any recommendations on where to begin solving this issue?

Thanks,

Wally

I would start by cleaning all the connections from the battery to the motor to the helm and back. each connection should be cleaned to shiny metal, then sealed with electrical varnish.

what size lights? what size batteries? are the batteries fully charged?
