Working on getting this new instrument panel layout done so what does everyone think about using a Fuel Switch? Use a switch to enable an electric fuel pump or just hook it to the ignition switch like most cars? I plan to use a kill switch to EStop the engine in an emergency.

Thanks.

Hooked up through the ignition switch via a shutoff of some kind (e.g. oil pressure switch) will prevent you from tearing your hair out when the motor doesn't start and you then realize the fuel switch was off. This is a fuel injected motor, right?

No, planning on a vortec carbureted motor... Thanks.. I wasn't seeing a real need for a fuel pump switch if I have the ignition kill switch... That seems like a duplication of effort..

You need a shutoff that senses whether the engine is running or not. The fuel pump has to shut off if the engine stalls or you will potentially flood the engine compartment with gasoline after the carb and intake overflow.

use an oil-pressure switch and a relay. I use the oil pressure switch as both an ignition cut-out and a fuel pump relay pilot

Sorry, been away for a while. To answer the last question, the boat had an OMC with a 351 Windsor (dead). I am restoring it with a 5.7L Chev Vortec and all new Mercruiser harnesses, new gauges, and new instrument switches. Don't know what the factory set up was.
