Any Handheld VHF radio users?

I'm thinking of adding a handheld as a backup or to loan to another boating partner who might not have a radio. A competitor has a sale on this week with what appears to be good prices on small handhelds

I have a hand-held ICOM that floats. take is in the fishing boat as well as kayaking

We use a handheld at the helm, our sailboat main VHF is inside meaning to use it you have to go down into the galley area. The handheld has a limited range due to the short antenna, but we travel off the NJ coast 10-15 miles maximum so we can easily reach SP, Coast Guard, TOWBOAT, etc.
