I mounted a garmGarmin transducer on my boat i lose the bottom at 22 mph. When the boat is on plain the transducer is skimming across the top of the water so i lower the transducer now i am getting a rooster tail. I am guessing i have to low now?

Which transducer?
Generally speaking, lowering the trailing edge of the transducer helps high speed drop out

Any time anything disrupts the flow of water coming off the bottom of the hull, turbulence will occur. So set the transducer up to give you the best of returns and deal with whatever exists with that setup. Unless the transducer is in the water, even at higher speeds, returns are not going to happen. If you google transducer deflector you might be able to find a solution to the rooster tail.
They work.

How much of a rooster tail? Could it need to be mounted some where else?

I have a gt51-m-tm on mine.
Install per instructions and tilt the trailing edge down a couple of degrees. Good clean signal to 35 kts.

Works on most boats but not all. I made a deflector plate but didn't need it
