1990 Sea Ray 280 Sundancer / AC Converter

This is a new to me 1990 SeaRay 280 and I want to ad a ProMariner ProSport 20 amp 3 bank charger/conditioner. My question is if I remove the stock AC converter that currently supplies 10amp charge to my batteries, will I experience any malfunctions in any other systems or equipment. Simply put, does the AC converter perform any other functions aside from charging the batteries ?
