This is a good example of a bad example on how to care for a boat, had the previous owner(s) kept this boat covered or garaged when not in use all that stuff would be dry and in good shape.

She'll be a dandy-fine vessel when you get her fixed up Bud, just take care of her and protect all of the work you're going to do to her by keeping her dry when you're done.

It;s going to be interesting to see what you do to her.

It also looks like they did a really GREAT job foaming it originally,:

Too bad it wasn't maintained better. If it had, I guess it wouldn't have been a deal, and we wouldn't get to tag along while you resto it. So .............

Nice looking basis for a redo.

How's the Mariner 75? It looks good, hope it's a runner..........

Hey Jign, you're absolutely right, I don't think there will be anything left of the transum to make a pattern with luckily it looks like a fairly simple one, we will remove the motor today see what's left of it.

Hi JB, yes it was a good job originally, but probably left out in the elements way to much, I haven't even tried to start the engine the guy said it was maintained and runs well hope so.

Nice boat Bud,

I dont think will complain about snow anymore based on size of those mounds in background of early pics....March too, yikes.

How old is your #1 assistant / partner ?

Just curious, what do the 2 thru hull fittings do up in bow on either side ?

Good work

tagging along

The only problem is, that amount of foam will only float a boat this much vvvvvvvv

I'd rather add more/extra foam and have it float like this vvvvvvvv:
Lund Boat Floatation Video - YouTube

Should I ever get my grubby paws on a boat of that design there will be changes to structural design... namely, more foam with better drainage. More deck framing without having to depend on floatation foam to support the decking, and more foam... did I mention that already?

More foam is of course better, but for the most part it looked like Sylvan managed get really good expansion, and there are minimal voids that didn't get foamed in.

Yes they did do a pretty good job foaming it in JB but in the middle of the boat it looked ok but when we removed it the whole bottom was soaked, so going to replace all the floatation, and yes jign I'm going to replace the 1/2 in floor with 3/4 and possibly make more changes but not sure yet. here's a few pics of the transum removal, first 2 are the previous owners transum repair IMG_5173.jpgIMG_5174.jpgIMG_5178.jpgIMG_5177.jpgIMG_5181.jpg

Hey street, my assistant is my son and he's 37, we've done a few restorations together. The to through hole fittings on either side of the bow are both bow live well overflows don't know why they put 2 in, was wondering about that myself.

Hi Glen, you're back, actually I was hoping to have it done by the 15th or opening day, this is a lot worse than I thought, going to Rona today and pick up some materials not sure what I'm going to use for flotation yet, maybe blue styrofoam.

You found some open water, the only place we have open water here is the rivers and their high, our fishing season usually starts around the 15rh of May so I have 10 days.

Removing side rub rails, don't really serve a purpose and make it harder to paint topside. my son is mig welding holes with his new toy. IMG_5197.jpgIMG_5198.jpgIMG_5199.jpgIMG_5200.jpgIMG_5201.jpg
