Re: Project log : Runabout to Fishing machine

I guess it's been a while. sorry to leave you all hanging. been crazy busy lately, but I've made some progress it's been mostly tying up lots of loose ends and small stuff. So it really looks the same.

The good news is that it looks like I will be able to put some time into it this weekend and really finish up all the basic rigging and outfitting work including getting the motor tilt bracket hung (it's currently disassembled). Then I can then cover up the boat, roll it outside, and clear off the bench to get the rest of the motor parts assembled painted. I'll get some fresh pics up for everyone this weekend.

Re: Project log : Runabout to Fishing machine

Well, I made some good progress last weekend. All the work on the hull is just about done. The only thing left to do is finish all the motor work, mount the control box and a little bit of wiring on the gauges. Of course there's some touch ups and little cosmetic dressing up that I'll do when all the rest of the work is done, So as promised, here are the pics.

Re: Project log : Runabout to Fishing machine

I finally got a chance to spend some time on the motor last night. It's not much, but I repaired the missing chunk of the cavitation plate and replaced the water pump. I also scuffed it down to prep it for paint. Up next will be the main part of the leg, I need to fix some of the motor mounts that I had to get a little.... ummm.."aggressive" with to get things apart.

Wow, what a skill set! Your forum signature is much too modest. Great work, as usual.

That's what I was thinking. If this had a new motor on it and was sitting on a new trailer, it would look right at home in a new boat showroom.

Awe crap!!! I should have never read through this thread!

I have a couple of old runabouts sitting in the front yard I was trying to figure out what to do with, my wife looking over my shoulder cause she wanted to know what I was ooohhhing and awing about, she just rolled her eyes and reminded me, we are suppose to take a vacation this summer and actually go somewhere besides the local lake!

:D

Re: Project log : Runabout to Fishing machine

Greetings Yall! Always wanted to say that :p

Anyway, I'm still here, although not as much as I would like to I've gotten myself involved in a even bigger restoration project aka a house. It's OK though, I'm still finding time to sneak in some boat work. I had to replace the drive shaft housing on the motor. It was corroded so bad, no amount of Kroil, heat, hammering, drilling and swearing could break things free on it. So it was E**ay to the rescue with a much better housing to my door for $65. I'll degrease and scuff everything tomorrow night and hopefully have everything in primer by Wednesday night. We shall see.

Re: Project log : Runabout to Fishing machine

Sorry for the lack of progress lately, I've been really busy working on my house. I had to put the boat on hold untill I can get to the point where I can move in and start working on my toys again. I will see this project through and you will all get to see it too. I'm nearly done with the pool/yard project. Just have a kitchen and bath left to do and I'll be back to boating. :D

Here's a few pics of what I've been up to.

This it what it looked the weekend after I closed.
