Re: 1963 16 ft Starcraft Jupiter restoration

Hello all, great day 70 degrees and low humidity so its painting time. I got the first coat of white on the hull and waiting for it to dry. I am now thinking that I should have cut the decking before I flipped it to paint and I could have worked on that while waiting oh well here are some pictures.

Perhaps you stated before, but are you rolling or spraying?
What products have you selected?

What products have you selected? I am rolling and using POR-15 paints because I have been using them for many years and like it tuffness. I used it mostly on cars but thought I would give it a try here as it was designed for the marine environment .

Wow! Your really moving along. And its looking great, too. You'll be on the water before ice is on the lake here in Wisconsin, at your pace. It took me a year to get it into the water. It was worth it, though. Keep up the good work.

Re: 1963 16 ft Starcraft Jupiter restoration

V8 I used Interlux Pre Kote (after ZC) and Interlux Brightside. I rolled the pre kote and sprayed the brightside. I bought a HVLP sprayer at HF for $50. and it worked great. A lot faster than rolling and very little overspray. Remember to have a mask on though, the overspray coats lungs too.
I don't see any reason to not use POR paints. I think of all the paints used on here, if the boat is trailered and it stick to the aluminum primer, why not? Are you using the same thing for your trailer?
Again, its looking good my friend, keep it up.

Thanks guys, I may have to make a trip to HF because I have been thinking about spraying the second coat but my trouble is where to spray it. I could try to do it outside any thoughts on that. I go to pick up my trailer from the blaster tomorrow and it will get painted with POR paint also as I gotta take advantage of this cooler dry weather.

Spectacular work man. I love the POR15 product and never did get around to doing my trailer.

It looks like the marine version of the POR will kick butt too.

Hello all, I got the trailer back from the blaster today and got a coat of primer on it so now I need to decide what color to paint it.
