And as it was getting dark I went in to do some trailer work. I cleaned the axle and painted it.

Thanks, that's the POR patch that I used to fill in the pitted spots. this stuff is great but you have to make sure to put it on thin because once it dries its rock hard and hard to sand.

Slow down v8! You are leaving me in a dust trail on your resto. It looks like everything is coming together nicely. You will be on the lake in no time!!!!

Another picture and what determines the need of a second coat.

I also got the axle painted with the final coat of paint I think. I am still not sure if I want it to be black or white. anyway that's all for today.

I'd keep all the trailer running gear black. If you have the Gluvit and feel like slappin' some more on go ahead but I don't think it's necessary.

Re: 1963 16 ft Starcraft Jupiter restoration

Thanks EZ for the reply. I bought the large can of gluvit and have some left so I may go ahead and use it. thanks Cool it is nice to go out and see a nice clean boat. now if I could find a bunch of pool noodles on sale it would be great. I was thinking about the flooring next but I guess it would be smarter to do the outside of the boat while it is still empty and light enough to flip over duh.

Check dollar stores for pool noodles. If you ask the manager they may be able to give you a price break on a bunch, as they are now out of season items.:)

Re: 1963 16 ft Starcraft Jupiter restoration

I heard from someone that you could order them from Dollar Tree's web site and have them shipped to the store. Personally I paid an arm and a leg for mine last winter because they were "out of season" in my area in the stores and I didn't know about the Dollar Tree thing. I got 'em here http://www.flaghouse.com/Water-Noodle-Set-Set-of-24-item-8052 As you can see the price sucks.

I got 72 of them in the 18' leaving a good size space for a ski/rod locker. I didn't put them in my 16'. The 16' being (obviously) shorter and also a shallower V, will fit far less. Huron Angler can probably better answer.
