Im a first time boat owner of an 82 skeeter 16' bass boat with a 150 Mercury Black Max XR2 motor. Had motor checked out by a marine mechanic, and the motor runs great. All cylinders were at 105 to 110 psi. So, after a majority of my fears were relieved, I then focused on the wiring. After an entire day of chasing, the lights and pumps came back to life. I then removed the gas tank to inspect the stringers! The stringers are cracked and rotten and the foam seems saturated. The transom was reinforced with some angle iron steel. The transom has slight crack to it. I was gonna reinforce the transom with 3/4" treated plywood. I was gonna cut a a piece to fit the layout of the entire rear compartment and then install knee braces to the strings and transom using liquid nail, decking screws and 5"x1" L brackets.(corner brackets). Unfortunely, this may be wishfull thinking. Im guessing the boat is totalled and the motor is the only thing of value? Any ideas?
