Re: Wellcraft Excel 1992 18sx

oh.....

i was misunderstanding as you said before that you used feeler gauges which are very thin...so i thought you had to get the shield 2m away from the fly wheel housing.

so the 2 mm or 1/16 of an inch is not the distance between the shield and fly wheel housing... its the allowed variance between the 3 tabs distance between the shield and transom?

Correct. To the best of my knowledge. I just used feeler gauges, sometimes 4 or 5 on top of each other to measure the gap to make sure the variance is no more than 2 mm, of course no variance is probably the best.

Have a great day

Rob.

Got a lot of work done since the last update.
I build the hatch to my ski locker. It is soaking up some resin and will get csm and cloth to match the deck.

I painted the bow storage areas with a rustoleum white. I am thinking about carpeting this area so things in there wont slide all around..

I finished up most of the stern area seating. This was all tabbed in and ready to be painted. I still need to add some extra supports for the seats.

Suggestion if you don't want things to slide instead of Carpet which will absorb and hold water everywhere, I would suggest you do as I have done:

Buy the Rubbermaid(Tm) rubber shelf liner, you can cut it to fit, get in any many colors, then stick it down with some regular contact cement or even the 3M(Tm) Spray on Contact Cement.

The Rubber shelf liner holds everything, except water, even a strip on the top of your cockpit/console areas will keep things like cellphones, "pop" etc from sliding around. I even put it in the bottom of my F/G drink holders.

Re: Wellcraft Excel 1992 18sx

This weekend i was going to try start painting the deck, but decided to get the engine taken care of.

I applied two coats of paint the the stern area storage compartments.
The Stern Drive was put on and i replaced both bellows. The engine is all aligned and bolted into place. I hooked up all the wiring and installed the battery box and battery.

The sides of the hull will get carpet. a smoke grey from Cabela 's
I will also be installing storage pocket along the hull deck seem. This will hide the seam of the carpet.
