Yes, pics please.

I repaired a through crack in my gunwale from a car accident last summer... it came out well. I treated it like a hull repair.. cover the outside with a flat "mold" covered in plastic, then re-layup from the inside with a gelcoat replacement, glass, and resin.

Of course, your repair might be simpler or harder, hence the need for pics :)

Re: Repairing Gunnals

I'm sorry I can't get any pics of the gunnals I just flipped her (with about six friends). I am starting to repair the hull and transorm, this is my first boat so ill start to put up pics and any advise is welcome.
I tried to put up a few pics but they we too big so ill try to compress them. Remember any advise is welcome im new at this boat repairing buisness.

Thanks Fuzzey

Re: Repairing Gunnals

marine tex is a very common solution...epoxy, dries hard as can be with a bit of a shine and can be used under the waterline too. great stuff. you can add pigment but i haven't tried, yet.

Re: Repairing Gunnals

go to photo bucket.......download...then resize to 640x 480 or somthing like that......then copy the img code and past it in your thread.......

without seeing its hard to give suggestions....but ericks posting is the uasual procedure for thru hull damage......

good luck.......

and you flipped it?.....

uasually the repairs are done to the outside by crawling under the bote....

i think youll find you wanna get in to her from the inside....

cheers

Re: Max Hp

Re: Max Hp

120hp?!?! that sounds crazy... lol its a 14' fiberglass that looks like it would only handle a 50hp at the most. Plus im only 15 so I can't drive over 40hp yet.
