I have all of the wood, transom, deck and stringers torn out so it is just my fiberglass hull sitting on the trailer. Should I cover it with plastic? I dont know if direct sunlight may defect the fiberglass.

I agree but it wont hurt it for short term. actually will help dry things out. I wish mine could get some sun this time of the year. My boat won't see daylight for a whyle now.

as said yes it will hurt it.......but not for a long time.

it is a lot harder on interoir components.

but your re-fitting so it will be good for it. might wanna even put a small fan in there for a few days, if you really wanna dry it out........

and being from sno covered canada, where my re fit is done in a garage, im constantly stuffing the wood stove.

yer makin me jelous!! lol

waht ya workin on???? got picks?

Re: Will Direct Sunlight Destroy Fiberglass Hull?

It is a fiberglass 20 foot bowrider. I am trying to get some pics maybe this weekend. We have a cold front here now, this morning it is 31 degrees. I bet it is really cold up there. I will work on painting my outboard in the garage while I am waiting for the cold front to pass. Probably will be back in the 70's in a few days.

The unpainted fiberglass inside of my hull is what I am worried about. Anything left in the sun down here usually doesnt last very long. I figure if I get the glasswork done in 3-4 months everything should be o.k.

buy a walmart tarp. build a tent frame to go inside, to hold the tarp.

I like that idea. Those tarps are cheap and it would keep the direct sunlight off my bare fiberglass.
