Would it be o.k. to use regular mat to glass over stringers? Do the stringers
need more than one layer of cloth on them?

What type of boat is this? What was on there originally? Hard to answer your question without more info.

Have a great day,

Rob.

We also need to know if you plan on using epoxy or polyester resin.

The boat is a fiberglass bowrider - 20 footer probably will put a 150 hrs on it when repaired. The deck and stringers look like they have been replaced before but it wasnt a good job at all. The underside of the deck wasnt glassed ,neither was the 2x4s that run across the beam. The guy used roven which I figure is stronger but I wonder if I can get away with using regular mat?

I plan to use polyester resin, unless there is a cheaper way.

Mat can be used, but it's nowhere near as strong as roving and with polyester you will need to use mat and roving together for a good strong repair.
