I have a situation where gel coat is worn threw to metal flake. And I mean metal flake, were it feels like sandpaper. It's been sitting for a lone time, and I want to do it right. Should I sand the flake down lay down a polyester primer smooth it out gel coat with metal flake? Or what?

Typically when Metal Flake is this far gone the best option is to sand it all off and Re-Shoot it with Paint. You can use Metal Flake Paint but it's not an easy shoot unless you have the proper equipment

Welcome aboard

Your two choices are live with it, or sand it down and start over with paint or gel

There is no reviving the metal flake
