I just bought my first boat. A 72 Chrysler Tri-Hull with a Chrysler 105. When I bought it the owner fired up the motor but it wouldn’t pump water. He assured me it was a quick and cheep fix. I ran the model # 1057he. It came back as a 73 build date. Series #4427. And no one makes that water pump kit anymore. I can find the impeller. That’s all and one seal, that’s all. When we tore it down we where supprised to find the pump housing half full of silicone!! Evidently the last person who worked on it couldn’t find the parts either. What is it about this one year of motor that makes it such an odd ball??

The reason the seal was loaded with silicon is because the bore it sits in is probably corroded and leaking. I had this problem on a 75 horse chrysler. I used anaerobic sealant on the outer circumference of the seal and it was effective. Gaskets should be available. The seal as well.
