Trying to find info on my boat

So I got a boat from a friend of mine and it doesn't have a motor on it the hull says max hp is 60 I was wondering if there is any way to find out what type of motor was on it when it was first made. It is a 1963 Sea King 15' the model number is 8926. If anyone can help thank you first restoration on a boat

Sea King boats were made by many builders and sold by Monkey Ward.

The same with Sea King outboards - Built by many manufacturers and sold by M-W. From Laingsoutboard reference page, a 60 HP labeled Sea King was offered in 1963 and it was built by Gale, a division of OMC along with Evinrude and Johnson outboards.

Guessing - The original motor may or may not have been a Sea King but chances are the boat was sold with a Sea King motor by M-W. So absolutely no help for you, just history.

Here is a 1964 restored. I found a rebuilt motor for yours on e bay for 500 bucks. Not the hp you want. But the motor looks exactly that same.
