I am in the process of restoring a 1980 18Ft Lund aluminum boat and have question on flooring. I hear a lot of people say go to a 3/4 in marine ply for the floor over the factory installed 1/2 in. As I was pulling the old floor I found the factory had use simple exterior plywood and screwed it in with self drilling screws that were rusted like anything. Should I stay with the thickness the factory installed and was designed for the boat. Confused old man. :fatigue:

Adding 3/4" over top of the factory 1/2" just adds unnecessary weight. Use 1/2" and stainless steel fasteners.

Correction I have already removed all the 1/2 in factory installed plywood. It was like tooth picks.

go with 3/4 i say this because if your stringers allow the 1/2 to bow or sag and someone jumps in it could crack the glass then you are screwed .
