Hello,
You’ve seen me post a few times about interesting boats that that could be fun restoration projects. Yes, I understand the financial inefficiencies of this but in my almost older age, 64, I just wanna. Below are my three criteria for this purchase:
  1. Was this originally considered a desirable - quality built boat?
  2. Uniqueness..I like something a little different/not too common
  3. Must be able to have a head
This morning I came across a 1977 26 ft Pacemaker Wahoo cc, asking $300 for the hull and $1,000 with a trailer. Did some research and this model has descriptions from fantastic off shore boat to will rock and roll you like crazy because of soft chines and low % deadrise. People seem to love this design or complain about the ride in small chop and rolling all over the place. Fairly conflicting!! I would plan to keep the integrity by staying inboard powered.
I live in Houston and desire to fish some, putt around the Gulf and ICW with maybe an excursion here and there out 5 to 10 miles. Also thinking about Florida ICW’s.
Thoughts on this boat and the conflicting soft chines little deadrise but a great offshore boat?
Thanks

1 - a 42 year old boat is a 42 year old boat. what it was originally didnt matter after its first year. what matters now is the condition it was maintained in , the condition is it now....did I mention condition.

2. its unique because its a 42 year old boat that originally had a 15-20 year design life and its still in one piece.

3. you can add a head to many boats.

I agree^^^^. I wouldn't buy ANY 42 year old boat without doing an EXTREMELY thorough inspection Top to Bottom Boats of this age and size could be a real Wallet Buster!!!

Really like the lines though. Not into cc Might throw a cabin on it. The trailer price forget it.
Tell um 500.00 for the package. then walk away. It's a total rehab.

Boat sold before I had a chance to see, just two days. But now I found a 76 grady white 204 c overnighter that is for sure a total rebuild. Included is a trailer and 200 hp johnson that may be salvageable all for the asking price of $700. So, for that price all must be in mint shape:joyous:. Transom, stringers, deck, tank and wiring for sure, do these boats have a wood cored hull (bottom and sides)? Boat is about the right size for my purposes and not too big for a rebuild. OK, let's hear the love....

I'm thinking with all the work she'll require...$500 would be a better Number
