Hi,

Maybe someone here have some good advice regarding the power trim and power steering for Mercruiser 5.7 LX.

The power trim

The hydraulic pump is not original fitted on the boat, and have one "quick release" connection and one hose connection. Would it be possible to remove those connection and buy #18 for the schematics below?

The power steering

The power steering hose that I have, have two different threads on each side. My cylinder have one hose connection (all fine!) and one quick release connection. If I remove the quick release - one side of the hose fit, which unfortunately is the same side that fits in the pump. Any idea what part that is wrong?

Cheers

never seen the quick connect fittings before... they are probably some sort of hydraulic quick connects that someone retrofitted, i doubt its a merc thing???

I would see if you can find the fittings for the pump side and remove the quick disconnects... They are probably NPT to flare adapters... you might even be able to find the correct fittings at an auto parts store for pretty cheap.

EDIT: Apparently its actually a Merc thing... you can buy hoses with the quick disconnects on them... WHO KNEW!

Thanks for the advice, the connectors from mercury worked fine for the power trim. For the power steering I found an adaptor for legacy merc fittings, unfortunately it didn’t work so I custom made a new connector.

WOW! You’re doing an amazing job, I live the white in between the wood!

Did you make the back bench seat yourself?
