I came across this Boat in my back yard, not literally. Know nothing about the boat it was appraised and inspected. Seems a little steep of a price to me but I know you guys won’t steer me wrong. Would be a fun winter project.
Anything you can tell me about it and what do you guy think it is worth. Hasn’t run since 1983 motor turns over and seems to have good compression.
Thanks,
Tim

Old boats are NOT like Old Cars. They are worth whatever the Owner can get and the buyer is willing to pay. I bought a 1960 Lonestar, Boat, Motor, and Trailer for $250. She appears to be in pretty good shape for her age!! She's also sitting on a very Desirable/Collectible Tee-Nee Trailer. The MFG's of this era had fiberglass stringers so the transom would be the only questionable area. Drilling some core samples will give you the answer. Motor is a Good Make and Model. Could be a good runner.!!! Keep us updated on your progress

Here's a link that might be of interest

I'm not sure. Don't really want to log into that forum etc. That's a pretty penny. Depends on it's condition. Good luck. [h=1]Gallery[/h] Password

With just the one pic to look at it looks in good shape . Looks like probably all the original hardware also ..
Just not a big market for these old classics unfortunately..
If it's in need of restoration my uneducated guess would be somewhere in the 3 to 4 grand range ..
And that may be a little high .. Look around to see what other boats of this vintage and size are going for these days ....

Celeron.JPG Boats of that vintage in that condition just don't bring that kind of money. It she was totally restored and the Motor was 100% then it MIGHT be worth their asking price. In her current condition, IMHO, she's worth $2000 MAX. As I stated Old Boats do NOT appreciate that much. She cost Less than $600 when she was New.
By the way, she's a Late 58' or early 59'. The Celeron isn't a listed Model till 1959. Fiberglassics estimates her current value as $379. The Motor and Trailer are Worth Maybe another $1,000. Thus my estimate of $2K.

DUH!!! I HAVE a Gator Trailer, (newer model) but you'd think I shoulda recognized it. The Older Gators were that Yellow color as were the Tee Nee's so I jumped to conclusions. Thanks Sam for the correction.

That sure is a good looking boat! Not sure though on the cost. May be others can suggest now that we have a look at it.
Good luck!

She sure is in good shape ! Mostly just a good cleanup needed . Unless you wanted to do a complete cosmetic restoration .
Still think the asking price is high by a few grand . The boat I am currently working on is about 10 years older roughly the same size cold moulded mahogany ply bottom with mahogany planked cap . I have seen the same boat basically fully restored listed around 6 grand . If you really like the boat and are willing to fork out that much I would offer somewhere around 3500 / 4000 and see if they would bite ...
Good luck whatever you decide to do !

And Woody, no problem with the trailer correction .. Sometimes it takes two sets of worn out eyes to see straight .

Well we offered them $2,000 and they were not too impressed. They will sit on it for awhile is my guess.

I bought it and am in the middle of restoring it. Have it off the trailer and all bits and pieces off. Rear bench out and should have it gutted by the end of this weekend. Then start sanding. Took the motor off, installed new points, coils, wires all new fuel hoses and it runs but rough. Need to take the carburetor off and dissemble and clean. Taking the trailer tomorrow to get sandblasted and painted this weekend.
