Got the inner stringers in with 1/4 " gap off the hull, the gap filled with thickened resin , still have to finish off the fillets, kept the heat on the resin overnight at about 75 deg

Outer stringers in in for a test fit

How long should the heat be kept on the resin for a good cure in the cooler temps?

At 75 you would only need a couple of hours. at 80 no add'l heat is needed. You can also make it a little hotter with hardener to set up faster. But watch yourself and batch size. Can cook real fast.

Still at it. I've been tabbing my stringers in using pb fillets, and two tabs of 1708 all wet on wet.

The first picture is from my original batch of resin which went clear when wetting it out like most pictures I've seen, the next few pictures are of tabbing using resin from a different supplier, it wets out OK but after it kicks it is no longer clear and has an amber color just like whats left in the mixing cup , the resin is a marine grade from a well known supplier, any thoughts?

I ran out of my 1708 tabbing roll and an now cut strips from my 36" wide roll, is there a way to keep threads from pulling when wetting it out, I'm cutting the strips with a rotary cutter which leaves a clean edge but goes ugly when its worked.

Got quite a bit done lately, stringers are all tabbed in, stringer height nice and level, a buddy volunteered to take care of the gel coat for me so that will save quite a few hours, gel coat cleaned up nice,
next step in the keel stringer and ski locker /tank floors

Stringers and bulkheads are a major accomplishment. :thumb:
Something stable and flat to walk on can't be far off. :)

Got quite a bit done this week, the bow bulkhead is in and tabbed, the keel stringer in the ski locker is cut and being test fit along with the floor, used a stiff hose to get the arc on the panel.
Did a test fit on the tank, might have to go with 1/8" neoprene on the sides as the two layers of tabbing made it a tight.

Next is the gas tank floor and pressure testing the tank at 3 psi

Looking for feedback on these spider cracks around the keyhole, the first picture is from before the restoration and shows stress cracks in the gel running on a 45 deg angle going downwards from the lower mounting holes, the next two are taken after the hull was cleaned and a oxidation remover was used, cracks are now much less noticeable but still there, should the whole section be sanded down and re-gelled?

The area around the drain will be fixed

Any comments on how to address the gel coat around the keyhole?

Stress cracks are there, less noticeable since the transom was polished and picture resolution so low.

Update the keel stringer is in and tabbed with an up and over of 1708, the ski locker floor is tabbed in as well, the fuel tank floor is ready to go in once I run the pvc drain tube from the ski locker to the bilge,

The original construction had a thin layer of fiberglass that ran from the inner stringers to the edge of the ski locker opening.
The span between the stringers is 30.5" , would I be OK to run reinforcing ribs in this section to strengthen the floor, maybe two 2 x 2" fore and aft on each side full length of the locker?.

I cut out 4 notches on top of the stringers about 1.5" wide. After the tank was in, I glued in 2 strips of plywood 2" tall. You get your strength through the height of the braces.

The fuel tank area had double ply plus bracing, or I could go with bracing across the stringer like you said

For the ski locker I can run 2" x 2" parallel to the stringer beside the locker door between the bulkhead and the frame for the head to support the deck on the starboard side, have to come up with something for the port side

Back at it after a few weeks of holidays and some out of town work.

Ski locker, fuel tank floor and bulkhead are all tabbed in, the drain pipe from the ski locker to the bilge has a layer of 1708 to hold it in place.

Got the engine fired up after sitting for two years, slave starter solenoid needed to be replaced after sitting, I do remember hearing a few " click clicks" the last few times I had it out
