I am restoring an Islander i picked up for a good price for my family. I am converting to an outboard and would like to add stringers for extra support. I wanted to use 1/8 aluminium sheet, plus add 2 bulkhead fore and aft of the fuel tank. I'm asking for any ideas or inout

Welcome aboard.

Are you planning on adding a bracket or fabbing a splashwell? In either case, you don't need more stringers, you need to add knee braces to trianglarize the forces from the transom to the stringers.

Look through the Starcraft section of the forum for pictures in the resto threads of how knee braces are incorporated in the factory design. Click on the Starcraft Forum link in the sig below for the resto threads.
