1976 Munro "Fury" 14ft

Bought this boat as a small project. I am new to rebuilding a boat and this seems to be a complete remodel. I have tried to look up this boat and have found its a company that was based out of London, Canada. Only seen one picture of the same boat that looked to be in great shape. The issue is that it seems to have just one stringer. Is this normal? Where do i start to even begin on this boat. Also the side of the boat is flimsy.

Normal is whatever it is, you can rebuild it like it was, or change it to something you like better.

I just don't want to mess it up because it's a small boat to begin with and not that deep of a hull. If I build it up it will feel like your siting in a Jon boat and I don't what that..

Did it fail in some way over the last 40 years, other than the rotten wood? That may give you a clue as to if it was built strong enough when new.

Here is the pictures. The stringer was previously removed before i bought the boat. Looks to be about 2x4 size. I am pretty sure i will rise the deck height some when i fit ply in.

curious if i need or could add small stringers to for support. the deck looks like it was flushed to bottom of hull on the side and just crappy styrofoam in middle... What do some of you think in the direction of this. the sides are also flimsy and think if adding bracing would every be needed or help. No "weak" spot" seen so figure its fine.

Ive cleaned it out some more to get a better view of the missing stringer and removed all the foam. near bottom of transom was weak fiber glass. Any ideas on how i should build this besides the basic transom replacement and decking?

Frequently when people here don't have anything helpful to say they stay quiet.

As mentioned before, you can rebuild it just like it was, no need to change a designed that lasted this long. Or, you can change it to anything you want that you feel may work better. It's the same with the interior layout, it's totally up to you.

Thanks! I think what I'll do is replace the keel stringer and seat the deck onto the exposed fiberglass on sides (old deck glass) so that it raises it off the hull and then once secured pour expanding foam to fill void. I also will remove the closed portion of the cap to make it open. Will have to fab the gunnels on the ends.

Idea would be to make a center console, but at 14 ft boat anyone think it's to small to do that? I really don't know how this boat would fare with small swells from the jettys and coast. Also thought of enclosing the sides and foam filling to stiffen sides. What do you think?

Small center consoles make for very little room for anything, even people, I dislike them unless the goal is just motoring around. As you get bigger CCs make sense.

Updated Pics:

Restored the bunkers and cleaned up the trailer some and sprayed some paint on it. It is now not as ugly.
