It was killin me. I went in for overtime and got the machine sewing on the last seat done. So took a day to return to the same point I was at this morning. Definitely picked up the pace from the first one that took more than a week,

It helps that at the end I knew what I had to do and it was just work and get it done. Not just wondering what the heck I was going to do. I admit I just want these things done so I can move on to the next part.

Yesterday I was lagging. Just couldn't get in the swing of it. So didn't get alot done. I got 6 inches of the double piping to do and the last seat back cover is done. Put that together. The easy part.

Then start cleaning and greasing the seat tracks for re assembly. Put them in plastic on the cherry picker for storage and cover them back up with the quilt.

I am about out of white vinyl. So I got to make calculations and see how much more I need of that and go visit Joanne again. l got the rear seat and engine cover left. The sides are majority of red and grey I got that. A little white on those in the middle.

The worst is over on this now. Main seating and the bow were the worst. I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel now.

Got the last seat back done.

Spent most of the time cleaning the evil wood/varnish/glue off the seat tracks that decomposing wood turns into. Oiled and worked all the hinges and seat track arms loose so they work again.

There is a bunch of stuff going on with those tracks. Adjustment forward and back. Both sides fold out into beds.

Went out to get some stainless screws was counting and the guy pointed out if I bought the box I got 3X more for the same price. So I paid the extra 4 bucks over the single count I had and got more than I will need now. I am sure they will come in handy forever. Put the left overs in the cabinet with the extra chevelle parts for future use.

I got one hinge on the top of 2 seat backs and the filler in before I had to call it quits.

I am up rested and ready for the salt mines.

Now I have a question. I know that doesn't happen often. I am a reader mostly. Since this silly boat is getting redone and looks so much better. Capacity plate. The one in it is a sticker and peeling on the edge faded just looks bad and wont match the boats condition when done.

I found them on E Bay that are metal and NOS.

Question is this can I just replace it with one of those. Just match the persons and weight with what it has now. So if I get stopped and inspected are the coast guard unreasonably Psychotic types. Or will they just accept I replaced it with out a supreme court ruling and a lawyer on board.

I walked in from my daughter's Christmas concert and just spent the last 1.5 hrs reading this thread. I saw it when you first started it and somehow never made it back.

You're doing great work!

On the capacity sticker. I used this site (below) to make a new replica of the one that was in my boat. The type of work you are doing...you're going to want it to look factory fresh.

Thank you for the compliment.

Also thanks for the link. I saved it in the boats computer folder.

I got them done. I only got 4 screws in the track to bases. Beacuse the seats got to come off to put the carpet it. But I predrilled all the screw holes. Seat adjustment works.

I wrapped them in plastic and covered them with a garage quilt I keep for just such emergencies.

First pic is the seat doing its little trick I will never use.

Thanks guys.

I was a little concerned when I started whether they would look factory or not doing this part. But it turned out fine. Good enough for government work. Took the pressure off. I have done enough now I am sure the rest will be fine. It would be better if i was just starting them now tho. Learning curve and all. That was my first time doing anything like this. Made some mistakes moving on now LOL.

Yea I wouldn't hold your breath oldrem LOL. This isn't fun to do the main seating and I won't be doing guest appearances. These things made the bow parts look like cake. This is the kind of stuff you do for yourself because it is so damn expensive to have done. But not something I want to do for money. As long as it took me I would go broke quick. But as a wise man told me once. That is why it is called a hobby and not a career.

I am out of white now and have to get more. This should be the last trip for vinyl. I think I got enough and some for the rest in red and grey. I got work coming today so I can't do anything. I am wanting to do the side panels next.

Yep, know exactly what you say. I had a number of guys that wanted me to make holsters for them after they saw the ones I made for myself. No way I wanted to do that again for any money. Especially hand awling and hand stitching (backside of holsters was over 1/2" thick) full set.jpg

That looks very nice. I wont do car painting for people either. They see the van or the chevelle. They want Earl Schiebs prices and cavelcade of customs quality. I have had people want me to do it for less than the materials cost.

Anywho I didn't do squat today on the barge. I got some work to do gather up a few bucks to spend on the barge. Doing window tracks and brakes on a jeep. Waiting for the parts to come in now. Soon as I get paid and that is out of my hair off to get more vinyl.

Went to the north pole today to see santa. My son is set up for the big day now. He is getting a boat that runs in the water this year. Among other things.

Little stinker got in my e mail on his tablet and found a pic of the boat and used it as his screen saver on the tablet. Definitely follows in my footsteps.

Nice update to your avatar. :thumb:
Thank you. I was looking at it one day and thought wow the cockpit cover looked nasty. I got better pictures now.

The ol jeep I put brakes on. I drove it to get the supplies. Its right front brake is dragging. So I will be screwing with it till I figure out what is wrong. Line caliper something is screwing up. Just my luck taking more time away from the barge.

I was just out knocking the snow off the car port over the boat. Shoveled the drive and started and let the 4wd truck warm up. Just in case so I know it is ready.

Maybe I am crazy I liked grinding the hull better than shoveling snow. I miss the boat being in it everyday. But it is dry and clean out there.

Like chuck says I got it bad now. Winter doldrums.

It was in the teens this morning and it is only 32 now. I couldn't get motivated to deal with the jeep.

I sat in the garage a while with the heater on my feet watching TV. I decided to do something fun and easy for a change. I gave the engine covers teak a taste of the teak oil to just see what happened.

I then got the skii locker cover out of the chevelle and cleaned it and let the thirsty girl drink as much as she wanted. Got it good and wet and scrubbed with the kitchen pad. I used a paint brush to get in all the crevices. Actually was a nice change of pace doing something ridiculously easy with such a huge difference in appearance for so little work.

I watched sci fi talked to my brother on the phone while he was playing with his boat to. Sat and basted her like a thanksgiving turkey a while. I must say I had a good time.

I even went out and did the swim platform steps in the cold I was so impressed. Those things are exposed to weather no matter what so I figured they needed treated the worst.

I just needed a break from hard hard stuff I guess. I feel better now.
