Finally getting some work done on the open bow seating. Bought a sailrite walking foot sewing machine and some marine vinyl along with some other things. Never done anything like this, but then again, this whole project was new to me. Working with my wife, we designed and made templates. Then proceeded to making the seats. 1 is complete with the others in process.

Back last summer/fall I did spray the entire cap with new gelcoat. I wanted to post a photo of what that looked like after I sprayed it. I used patch booster, with three coats thinned more as I went with wax added in 3rd coat. Used 2.5mm tip for first two coats, then 1.5 tip for final coat. If I wanted a mirror Finnish it could be sanded and polished, but I haven't done that yet.

Bow seating completed after months of on hold due to another project. I think they turned out pretty well for an amateur.

Just read through the thread from the start... impressive journey! To rebuild the engine from
what it started out as PLUS the hull is a real feat. Beautiful job on the bow seating too. :thumb:

Woodonglass I did like the sailrite machine, I had first bought a cheep Chinese knock-off, but after that gave me major problems, I returned it and went with the Sailrite, it has worked flawlessly thus far. I'm working on Sunbrella canvas on another project now

I have a friend that bought one and he likes it except for the stitch length. It only does 6spi and for leather and vinyl 4 spi is ideal. The Big Name Pricey machines allow that stitch length.
