Hello Iboaters!
It has been a couple of years since i posted a new topic.

I bought a used johnson 60hp type: J60TLENE

I
t runs just fine and starts right up.

When I performed a compression test, the results were not to my liking.

top cylinder 50 psi
middle cylinder 100 psi
lower cylinder 100 psi

I removed the cylinder head to see if the cylinder was damaged. and indeed there are scratches in the upper cylinder. the scratches are deep enough to catch your nails. and the piston can wiggle quite a bit ( i dont know if this is normal) the lower two pistions also wiggle a little bit, but less then the upper one.

I have addes pictures of the damaged cylinder, and i was hoping for some good advice what to do.

The only option i can think of myself is to hone/bore the cylinder and replace the pistons.

Greetings from The Netherlands!

Does the tell tale hose come off the side of the block or of the top.--------------De # 1 zuiger is kapot.---------------You will need to tear this down for inspection and repairs.-----Fairly common damage on these motors.
