I am looking to buy a 1925 Elto G outboard. I have seen other write ups on Elto Super G with the same patent dates on the name plate but can't find an answer on out what is the difference between the "G" and the "Super G"? Any help?

Ole Evinrude's second company started out manufacturing "Evinrude Light Twin Outboards", or ELTO, in about 1919. Often called the "Ruddertwin" it originally was 2 1/2 to 3.0 HP. Early models had no model name, then they became a Model G.

In 1926 they upped the HP to 4.0 and the new model was called "Super G". There were also changes in the rudder construction along the way.

The unmolested barn find below is an early 3.0. The restored model below is a Super G.
