I have a 150 yamaha two stroke 2001 and it runs fine at low rpm's but when I run it faster the alarm goes off and it shuts down to an idle, water continues to spit, any ideas?
I have 2 1998 150's on a Century center console and have had the same issue for over a year. My mechanic has not figured it out. Changed impellers twice and raised and lowered motors on transom, issue still there. Not always same motor. I am starting to think it might be an electrical problem?
I have a 1992 150 with the same problem it has been happening for the last 3 years and can't find anyone who can fix it. I have replaced the water pump, emptied all the oil to get rid of any water in the oil and still get alarm . I did notice if I start out slow and build up the RPM's it will not give me the alarm it is when I am idling to long or when I give it full throttle the the problem comes on.Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
Download an owners manual and see what else causes your alarm to go off. I believe you'll find that the low oil/no oil will also cause it to sound off. If the oil injection is up to par, then it could be the sensor assembly in your engine oil tank that's faulty.
water pump, thermostats, and poppet valve, three simple parts, , that being said, can you you overide oil and fill the tank ? i cannot think of anything else that would send it into alarm mode, let us know as i learn a lot of this board
