1999 Yamaha 150sMy port motor seems to be stuck in the neutral lock out.Is the gear cable broken? Is the problem in the control body itself?Basically, when I start the motor, the port motor control arm will not engage the motor. It is as if the arm is in its netral lock position. When I put in forward and reverse, it will give it fuel, but it won't drop back to be able to put the motor in gear.Help..............Michael
Ray, I understand the troubleshoot. But the problem is not in the throttles. When I move the shifter, the boat should go in gear and it only revs.I assume the problem may be in the neutral lock or in the assembly itself.I was wondering if a broken shift cable would react like that. The throttle shifter is acting like it is stuck in the neutral lock. It responeds like it does when I press the side button to give it fuel only.Michael
the lockout button sometimes get stuck in. its usually a very simple job to pull the control if it was installed correctly. the rubber cap on the side of the handle just pulls off. try some wd40 in there first.
Just wanted to post a follow up.The shift cable was snapped close to the controls.I simply changed the cable.Ray was right, the control body is a simple mechanism. The job was straight forward and went quickly on the Yamaha controls.MichaelThanks for the help.
