I am looking at a yamaha fuel management guage for my 2005 yamaha 115 four its advertised with harness but no sender does anyone have any estimate on how much a sender costs also when i installed my multifunction tach it needed an additional adapter harness for it to work on my 2005 is this true with this fuel guage also one other question does this guage rely on readings from the sending unit in the tank itselfthanks for your response
Any sending unit will work. I replaced the one in my boat (Yamaha powered) with a standard off the shelf and it works fine. Don't know about the 2005 stuff. I just got a schematic from Yamaha and wired it up.
its settable and scaleable. you can select which fuel level sender you wish to use, US is the most common at 35-240 Ohms, the yam level sender and the UK version are different but selectable. for the flow sender its only from yamaha. did you get the card with the instructions on how to set and calibrate it ?I dont think anyother adapters are nessasary, only for the pre 05 tachs to the post 05 motors.

I have not purchased it yet but I am still curious on whether or not the unit is connected to the fuel tank sending unit just trying to understand how the guage knows how much fuel you have in your tank
I dont think the pre 05 gauge has a level function. it has a flow function and a gallons consumed function, the yamaha speedo has the level function and can be interfaced with the fuel management gauge for expanded information. I would have to go find my rigging or tech guide as I cant remember them all. but on the one I think your talking about there is no fuel level there is a gallons used but you have to have the flow sender as well and it supposed to be part of the kit.
