bfryer,The recommended mix ratio for your motor is 50:1 (1pint TCW3 per 6.25 gallons 87 octane)

I have a swedish boat magazine from June 1985 that says 100:1 for the 1985 6HP Yamaha. Also 100:1 for 1985 model of Yamaha, Mariner, Evinrude 5HP and Mariner, Johnson and Suzuki 6HP. 50:1 for the Tohatsu 5HP only.I don't want to confuse anyone, but I can understand why your friend said 100:1. Your dealer can confirm the ratio. I belive the fuel tank and engine decal says 100:1 too. I would go for 50:1 anyway. Why risk the powerhead for a few $ of oil a year?Edit: JB said in another post "Forget the 100:1 mix. OMC rescinded that almost immediately. Use 50:1 with 87 octane regular unleaded." 100:1....just like the owner's manual recommends.I've run a 6hp Yamaha for years on 100:1 with no problems. At 50:1 t runs and idles crappy, and fouls plugs too.I suppose you could run it 50:.5

hey thanks for the info guys. I am going to the 50:1 mix ratio. I use it in my 15 rude, and my 2.5 Mariner. Yamaha did apply a 100:1 mix originally to this motor I have since found. If I was only going to troll with the motor the 100:1 should be great. but to run WOT and then store the motor I agree with the 50:1 gas to oil ratio...Ben
