Default Yamaha 225 4-stroke throttle recall

A customer brought in a model F225TXRA serial 69J X 00304 for winterizing complaining of throttle problems very similar to those experienced with early production models. I know there was a recall, but I don't have the specifics, I'm not working for a Yamaha dealer. Does this motor fall within that serial number group? Mercury sold that motor as well, only painted black with "Mercury" on the hood. I have the Mercury bulletin at hand, but they only specify Merc serial numbers. Is Yamaha still honoring that recall? Would they pay a Merc dealer to perform the upgrade (probably not)?

if the seriel number is in the range and an A model will be yes the warrenty recall is in effect and will be honered but only at a yahama dealer. takes 6 dollars of parts and 40 min to change the bushings.
look at the throttle bushings, if they are a translucent/white they need to be updated to the black. also check for the link rod update from the bell crank to the port and stbd throttles. see if they have a raised dot at the ends on the heim joint. if they dont odds are it will need that update as well.
while your looking see if it falls in the regulater rectifier/driver recall.
if your model 225 has the driver mounted on the port lower cowl look to see if it has blue or gray connectors, gray means it needs the recall done.
call a trusted yamaha dealer and give them the pimary ID and the YDS system will say which ones need to be done.
no tech questions by PM, they wont get answered.

Thanks to your valuable information, I found that only the throttle shaft bushing recall had been done. We're working-out what to do about to do about the linkage recall. The voltage regulator recall does not seem to apply to this motor.

    Thanks Again!!!
