yamaha 115 serial number

Hi folks, I just bought a 1988 Skeeter sd125 that has a Yamaha model 115ETLD-code 6ESL ser 386439..Where can I find the year of manufacture? Thanks, Rich

electric start, Trim,Long 20" transom, D now comes the tricky part, D was used for both the 1990 production run and the 2005 production run.
the 1990 model had the CDI on the stbd side and the 2005 model CDI was mounted between the cylinder heads.
from here I cannot access the seriel # run and I hope not to be at the shop till at least monday .
the trim and oil harness plugs on the 1990 are round and square on the 2005 model

how much more simple do you need?
mercury hasnt used a year model as an identier for at least 40 years.
yamaha did not go to seriel number identification until 06.
however they did use the suffix D twice.
most all US market motors from 86 to 2005 used the last alpha character for year model production run identification not the seriel number.
in fact by seriel number runs its not always possible to ID the production year run of a mercury/mercruiser product.

Since the boat is an 88, I will assume it is a 90 motor..Been too busy with other projects to pull the cowling, and look at the CDI..Thanks for the help..Rich..PS- just curious, how reliable are these motors? Since it is Japanese, I would expect they are well made
